A stretch reminder you'll actually follow
Most break reminders are a pop-up you close without thinking. Pawse asks your desktop pet to do it: a friendly card appears beside your pet, and if you start the one minute routine, your pet stretches right along with you.
Free for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows. No ads, no subscription.
How it works
- 1
Pick how often
Every 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, in Settings > Breaks. You can turn it off any time.
- 2
A card pops up beside your pet
It doesn't steal focus from what you're typing, and it shows over full-screen apps.
- 3
Stretch together for one minute
Neck rolls, shoulder rolls, reaching up, a wrist stretch and resting your eyes, 15 seconds each, with a countdown.
Smart about when to remind you
- You were already away
- If you've been away from the keyboard for 5 minutes when a stretch is due, that counts as a break and the timer simply starts over.
- You're in a focus session
- During a Pomodoro session the stretch reminder steps aside, and your break counts as the stretch, so it never interrupts deep work.
- Snooze or skip
- Not now? Snooze for 10 minutes or skip this one. Quiet mode holds all cards for 30 minutes up to the next morning.
- Asleep or restarted
- Timers run on the real clock, so they survive sleep and restarts.
Your own reminders too
Add reminders for anything: drink water, check your posture, take your meds, a meeting at 3. Set a time (once, daily, weekdays or chosen days) or an interval like every hour. Each one can be paused, edited, previewed or snoozed for 5, 10 or 30 minutes.
Every stretch you finish earns paws (100 for the guided routine), and paws fill gift boxes with collectible hats for your pet. Settings > Progress shows how many stretches you did today and this week.
Questions
How often does it remind me to stretch?
You choose: every 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or off.
Will it interrupt my typing?
No. The card appears beside your pet without taking keyboard focus, so you can finish your sentence first.
Does it work over full-screen apps?
Yes. Your pet and its cards float above full-screen apps on macOS and Windows.
Can I set reminders other than stretching?
Yes. Add your own reminders at a time or every few minutes, from Settings > Reminders.
Is it free?
Yes. Pawse is free, with no ads and no subscription, and it runs entirely on your computer.
